Tsinghua Shui Mu Picture

Program Overview

Join Prof. Karl Okamoto and students from Kline School and Renmin University in an innovative course in Transactional Law. This course mixes on-line lectures, live seminars and a week-long live simulation in Beijing, China. A 3-credit class, “Transactional Lawyering in China and the US: A Comparative Experience” will take place during the Spring 2020 semester, ending with a week in China after exams end in May 2020. The class will be taught in 3 segments: (1) asynchronous, online lectures; (2) live, instructor-led seminars held at Drexel; (3) in-person classes at Renmin University, Beijing, China. In the China portion of the course, you will conduct mock drafting and negotiation exercises with students from Renmin and other Chinese law schools and visit with several leading transactional lawyers from major law firms based in China.  There will be opportunities for extra-curricular activities, such as visits to the Great Wall, Forbidden City and similar landmarks, shopping expeditions and “street food”tours with Professor Okamoto.
