Spring Break in the Netherlands:
Thinking (A)broad: Global Project &Team Leadership

Program Overview

This program is a 4-credit business elective offered in spring term 2020 that begins with a 6 night Intensive Course Abroad to The Netherlands and is followed by 3 monthly (tentatively during weeks 3-6-9) on campus class meetings Wednesdays 4:00-6:00 pm.  Priority enrollment will be given to business students enrolled in BUSN101 Global Classroom sections current and past.
The course will include a focus on team roles and dynamics, viewed from a global and cross-cultural perspective, as well as project management. It will include a hands-on experiential consulting-based project collaboratively with local social enterprise based start-ups facilitated through Amsterdam University of Applied Science and supported by their faculty.  Some time is designated for cultural events.  Faculty and students from Leeds University (UK) will also be joining in the program portion in The Netherlands.

This is a great opportunity to gain international experience and develop resume talking points.  Students are simply going to learn a lot, and have fun and create memories too!

By participating in this program, you will:

  • Utilize team roles/dynamics and leadership styles based on professional development tools, theoretical application and participation in various hands on activities and observe how to adjust them on various cultural backgrounds
  • Apply project management skills and consulting fundamentals to organize, analyze and solve unstructured business problems for local social enterprise entities, contributing to their strategic objectives through researched recommendations
  • Experience the cultural and historical base of the country and its relevance to their studies
  • Reflect upon learnings and set personal goals for continued cross cultural experiences

Credit/Registration: This combined on-campus/abroad course is BUSN T380 Global Project and Team Leadership for 4 credits and serves as a business elective for Spring Term 2020. Students will be enrolled in the course upon acceptance of their application.
