Program Overview


Working with the Berlin School of Economics and Law in the TOOLIP program (a grant-funded multi-year initiative), Drexel participants in this program will spend one week in Berlin working with faculty, students, and other professionals in an intensive exposure to various topics within global sustainability, and the issues and opportunities available to the current generation for creating a more robust environment for ongoing responsible action in the world. Students will be challenged to discuss challenges, explore trends and propose new ideas centered in UN goals and the areas of sustainability of people, profit and planet, which they will bring back to campus and share with the Drexel community.  Topics and activities will include (but not be limited to) the following seminars and workshops, as well as corporate talks and fieldtrips, and students will also have time to explore the rich culture and history of Berlin, while engaging in daily reflection and conversation of learning.

Participation in this program will allow you to:
  • Utilize team skills and leadership styles, apply theoretical learning and other professional experience to on-ground curriculum and topics, participate in various hands-on activities, observe how to adjust to various cultural backgrounds
  • Experience the cultural and historical base of the host country and its relevance to their studies
  • Reflect upon learnings and set personal goals for continued cross cultural experiences
  • Develop ideas and understanding of global sustainability and responsibility
  • Connect learning to the broader UN goals and share the experience with students from around the world
 

Academics:

Credit/Registration: Students will be registered for BUSN 350: Thinking Abroad 4 credits as part of their fall term course load. Students must leave room in their fall credit load enrollment for this 4-credit class. Students area advised to register for fall term as normal since ICA acceptance decisions will not be made until September. If accepted, students may select to drop one of their other fall term courses as needed to stay within the 20 credit limit. Receiving credit for this course is not optional. Students may not participate on the program without receiving credit for the course.

Important: This program takes break during week 8 of fall term. Students must contact their fall term professors as early as possible to request permission for an excused absence.

Pre-requisite: Open to all majors. Students with sophomore, pre-junior, junior, senior class standing are given priority.

Subsidized Program Fee: $250*

Due August 20, 2021: $250 Advanced Payment + $25 online application fee
Payments are non-refundable unless declined admission or program cancels for unforeseen reasons.
 
*This program is generously funded through the TOOLIP grant. Student costs are greatly reduced thanks to this grant. (Without this grant, the unsubsidized program fee is $3,500.) The TOOLIP grant is intended to support a cohort of diverse, interdisciplinary upper class undergraduate students who have demonstrated leadership, community engagement and global mindfulness; who have an interest in global sustainability in business, with people and for the planet; and who are committed to research and sharing with the Drexel community.

Visa: US citizens are not required to obtain a visa. Other nationalities should check The Germany Consulate website for visa requirements.
