This one-week program will explore the history, business environment and culture in Spain, centered in Barcelona as the second largest city and largest port in the Mediterranean. Working with local organizations, students will participate in specialized lectures and sessions, interact with local professionals, and apply on the ground learnings at various site visits. Topics may include international trade and exchange, small business and entrepreneurship, technology and innovation, education, and the economy and infrastructure. There will also be opportunities for service learning or advisory projects. Students have daily reflective briefings as well as consider personal career connections and goals. Post-program, there will be a research-based project focused on a specific topic that will be shared with the university community.
Participants will also engage in shared experiences with the parallel program in Florence, Italy. They will be connecting virtually in a global classroom type setting, as well as a joint lecture session. The final research project will be comprised of students from both projects, presenting topics from both countries related to program content, as a part of Drexel’s Annual Week of Undergraduate Excellence.
As program runs parallel to the Florence, Italy ICA, students can only complete an application for one of the two programs. If one program fills, please indicate to the instructor if you would like to be considered for the other program.
Priority for this given to LeBow students, although all students are welcome to apply.
Note: Due to popularity of this program, applications opened after Nov 6 may not receive an interview (a required part of the application). All applicants are encourged to schedule an interview with Professor D'Angelo by November 6.
